Siliguri History, West Bengal, India
Siliguri was a tiny village which metamorphosed into one of the major commercial regions of West Bengal. It was a sub- division in Darjeeling district about 100 years back. The year 1907 was eventful as Siliguri was accorded the status of a sub-division by the Colonial rulers.
Siliguri occupies an important place in the history of Darjeeling and in the history of world tourism. It is this place from where the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway undertook its glorious journey.
